The Fast And Furious Miami Dolphins

Move over Vin Diesel. We’re taking coach Brian Flores over you any day. It’s a new year and a new approach for the Miami Dolphins. This one is going to be exciting.

This summer, the Dolphins are installing a new offense. One that will challenge opposing defenses. Who better to oversee that transformation than the man who made a name for himself by shutting down high powered offenses. Flores was the mastermind behind the New England Patriots defense that held the Los Angeles Rams to three points in Super Bowl LIII. Those same Rams averaged 33 points a game that year.

In the same manner that cybersecurity companies use hackers to develop the best computer protection software; Miami’s defensive guru is creating an offense that would give himself nightmares. The Dolphins will unleash an offense that undoubtedly can hang with their defense. Correspondingly, Miami’s will wreak havoc on all opposing defenses.

The Fast

And I do mean very fast.

Will Fuller V signed in free agency and will be starting at wideout. Fuller’s official 40-yard dash time is 4.32. Miami’s top draft pick Jaylen Waddle was clocking 4.3 speed in high school. Good luck chasing him now. Waddle claims that he can run south of a 4.3 now. Comparatively, the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt’s 40-yard dash time is 4.22. This results in Miami being able to flaunt Olympic sprinter speed that will stress out defenses.

“Defenses have to make that decision when you have those types of players on the field,” Flores said.

Just like in the Fast & Furious, opponents will be challenged to make split-second decisions. Make the wrong one and you lose. By adding speed, the Dolphins became versatile. Look for Mike Gesicki, DeVante Parker, Myles Gaskin, and others to have elevated performances as a result of a more open field.

The Furious

The perfect formula for a Summer Blockbuster is:

Speed and high flying stunts (Offense) ✅

Sex Appeal (It’s the City of Miami)✅

Explosions and Fireworks ✅

The third bullet is provided courtesy of Miami’s defense! The Dolphins already own the longest active takeaway streak of 22 games. Imagine if that unit became even more explosive?

Well, they did exactly that. Despite being a top 10 defense, Miami struggled to stop the run and gave up a lot of yards. The additions of Benardrick McKinney in free agency will do wonders to improving the run defense. Rookies Jalean Phillips and Jevon Holland also will allow the defense to be even more aggressive.

Andrew Van Ginkel was a bright spot last season and will take on a larger role. Emmanuel Ogbah is in a contract year and Byron Jones will continue to prove he is worth his contract. Miami will get to the quarterback even more in 2021. Phillips will make an immediate impact and is the type of player that Flores loves. A player that can be moved around to disguise when and where pressure is coming from.

Ultimately, the Fast Offense will empower the Furious Defense. Get ready Miami, because this Summer Blockbuster will lead to Winter Awards.
