
The Miami Hurricanes went into the Cassell Coliseum ready to defeat the Virginia Tech Hokies for the second time this season. And so they did, but in a thrilling fashion as the Hurricanes beat Virginia Tech 102-95 in a Triple Overtime thriller.
The Hurricanes came out strong in the first half, scoring 41 points and took a nine-point lead as they scored 41 points. The Hokies returned the favor in the second half as they dropped 45 on the Hurricane defense and forced overtime.
Down three points with just under 13 seconds left in regulation, Kameron McGusty’s and-one play would tie the game at 77 and send it to overtime.
Down 2 in the first overtime, Isaiah Wong knocked down a contested fadeaway to tie it at 84 and summon the second overtime. Wong would repeat his magic and make another contested jumper to make it 90-90 and force a third, the first triple-overtime game in UM history.
The Canes went on a 12-5 run to steal the victory and get out of Cassell Coliseum with a win.
This win means a lot as they complete the sweep against Virginia Tech leading back to January 28th Miami is now tied with Pittsburgh in the conference standings as they sit at 6-10. The Hurricanes have won three straight ACC games for the first time since the 2017-2018 regular season.
Wong came into the game just a day after being named Atlantic Coastal Conference Freshman of the Week. The true Freshman scored 27 points with 12 rebounds in 42 minutes on the floor. Wong was 14/14 at the free-throw line and made multiple clutch plays down to the stretch. He was 6/16 on field goals and 1/4 from the 3 point line. Wong set a career-high in points, rebounds, and free throws made. He also tied his career-high in blocks.

Other notable players for Miami were Keith Stone, Chris Lykes, and Kameron McGusty. Stone scored 12 points and gathered 18 rebounds. Lykes scored 23 points, 4 assists, and 1 rebound. McGusty scored 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist.
The player of the game for Virginia Tech was Tyrece Radford. Radford scored 26 points and collected 10 rebounds with 2 assists. Landers Nolley II also had a good game as he scored 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 1 assist.
