With the announcement by the USL Championship of its revised 2020 schedule on Thursday, fans of the aqua, blue, and orange learned the dates for this year’s games. Miami FC resumes the season at home, Wednesday, July 22 at Riccardo Silva Stadium against Charlotte Independence.

The games will be behind closed doors until further notice as a result of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, in which the United States leads the world in the number of cases.

As reported earlier, Miami FC’s first game at Saint Louis FC, which resulted in a 4-1 loss, will count towards the 16 game season. However, there are 15 more games in order to present ample opportunity for the local club to establish itself as a power in the league.

In order to save team travel costs and to provide a higher level of safety for the players, the league divided up its 35 clubs into regional groups. Of interest to Florida fútbol fans, Miami FC will play the Tampa Bay Rowdies four times, two at home and two on the road, reviving a rivalry which began in 2016.

Miami FC will also play four matches against the other two teams in Group H, the Charleston Battery and Atlanta United 2. A home game against the Birmingham Legion is also on the calendar. The regular season concludes on Sunday, October 4, with a home match versus Atlanta United 2.

Leaguewide, there will be a total of 263 games over 13 weeks to decide which 16 teams will advance to the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs, which will open in the second weekend of October.
