Shea has scored played in 34 matches and scored four times as a member of the United States national team. He’s also suited up for FC Dallas, the Vancouver Whitecaps, Orlando City, and Atlanta United in the MLS.
Last year, Shea started in 10 games and played in 19 for Atlanta United FC before suffering a knee injury that required season-ending surgery.
Shea has been rehabilitating at Inter Miami FC’s training facilities. He’s now cleared for his return to professional soccer.
In the announcement of the singing, Shea said that his expectations for the team were “Obviously to win. To win games and do the best we can.”
Shea welcomed himself to the Inter Miami CF fans via Twitter.
When asked about his thoughts on the addition of Shea, head coach Diego Alonso replied, “It gives us peace of mind when we know that we have a player with experience in the league.”
He was touted a top U.S prospect before his transfer to the English Premier League side, Stoke City, that saw him play in just five games in the English top flight. He spent most of his time there on loan in a lower division of English soccer.
