Rome wasn’t built in a day, and Brian Flores and Chris Grier’s Miami Dolphins were not built in one draft. The Dolphins are going into the pivotal third year of this latest rebuild. At this point, you can see what they’re trying to construct, but the missing pieces are also glaring.
One of those missing pieces is a feature back. Last season, the Dolphins attempted to upgrade at running back by signing Jordan Howard in free agency and trading for Matt Breida. A year later, Miami is still looking for answers. This year the Dolphins refrained from any major free agent signings or trades in this area. All signs now point towards Grier drafting a running back.
The 2021 NFL Draft Class has some excellent options. Travis Etienne, Najee Harris, Javonte Williams and Trey Sermon are intriguing and could make an instant impact as a starter for Miami.
In the latest episode of Talking About Them Dolphins, Jamie Bahamas explains why he thinks the ‘Fins have to be aggressive in going after this one particular running back.

If Harris is there at 18, run to the (virtual?) podium with the pick. Yes, they need a pass rusher and a center, but not as bad as they need a premium back.

Agreed, Najee Harris is the guy you want. But more importantly is your comment on needing a scheme. An identity that is both aggressive with Harris and finesse with Tua. And while we’re at it, how about a dominating pass rusher?

Agree with you on the pass rusher too. They definitely have enough picks in the top 100 to fill some needs. Thanks for listening.
