Dillard forward Jaylen Haynes announced that he will reclassify to class of 2021 and play a post-grad year at Montverde Academy.
“I like how the program will give me the opportunity to work on my craft and get my body right for the highest level ,” Haynes told 305Sports.
In his 2020 campaign, Haynes averaged 18.4 points, ten rebounds, and two blocks a night on the 24-8 Panthers. The 6’8 big was dominate all year especially in the regional final against Mater Academy Charter where the senior put up 28 points, two assists, and 12 rebounds shutting out the nations No.48 rising junior Malik Reanu. Despite their best efforts Haynes and the Panthers came up just short of a State Championship loosing to Bartow 66-61 in overtime.
“I’m going to bring a hard work ethic and my unique skill set to compete with others,” the 6’8 forward continued.
Before deciding to reclassify and attend Montverde Academy, Haynes had offers from VCU, USF, UCF, FAU, Mississippi State, and Depaul.
The now Montverde Academy Eagle is looking to attend a top division-one program following his post-grad year.
