Jim Larrañaga and the Canes learned on Thursday afternoon that 4-star class of 2021 forward Benny Williams listed the Hurricanes as one of the four top schools he is considering. Williams, 6-foot-8, 180 pounds, cut his options down to Miami, Georgetown, Maryland, and Syracuse.
Benny Williams is ranked No. 56 in the ESPN 100 class of 2021. Williams is also the No. 10 small forward in his class and No. 1 player in the state of Maryland.
Miami’s 2021 recruiting class will be extremely important as they will have to fill the task of replacing Chris Lykes, Kameron McGusty, Sam Waardenburg, Nysier Brooks, and Rodney Miller. The Canes only have one junior on the roster and 6 scholarship players after the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Expectations are that Miami could have another effective group of commits. The Hurricanes picked up 5-star forward Earl Timberlake and 4-star Matt Cross in the class of 2020.
